We are committed to ensuring GravityLight is sustainable and scalable. We aim to create local jobs, skills and livelihoods in the heart of the communities that will be using GravityLight.
Rather than undermining the local economy by giving away free products, we are working through local distribution partners and sales agents. Flooding the market with free products can harm the local economy and wipe out local industry alternatives, destroying local businesses and livelihoods in areas where earning potential is already fragile.
The GravityLight Foundation wants to boost the local economy by creating sustainable demand for clean, safe lighting solutions.
By working through local distribution partners and sales agents, GravityLight supports local people to earn a living and learn new skills through selling GravityLights and similar products.
We recognise that GravityLight is also a desirable product in the developed world.
Preparing for the next natural disaster, lighting up a porch and cabin, or providing a unique reading light for children, our crowdfunding campaign highlighted many reasons why people wanted GravityLight across the world.
For this reason, Deciwatt Ltd. was established to design and develop off-grid, clean energy solutions for emergency relief and a range of applications in developed markets.
A proportion of Deciwatt’s profits go to the GravityLight Foundation to support the mission of eliminating kerosene lamps.
